Founder, Managing Director
Mr. Sanjay Menon is a visionary who pioneered the Fine Wine Market in the Indian subcontinental. With his unwavering determination & exceptional foresight he brought wine into India when the market had no knowledge of or exposure to wine. This was the time when Indian consumers were known for their love for whisky.
He has forever altered the landscape of the entire Alco-bev segment in India by bringing fine wine in to the country in 1999. When he started there were only bulk wine importers in the country and zero Fine Wine Importers. The growth of the fine wine segment has been staggered but his unwavering belief has not only propelled his own success but also paved the way for countless others to follow. Today, his name resonates as a symbol of inspiration and serves as a testament to the remarkable impact a single person can have when driven by passion and an unwavering dedication to shaping the future.
Sonali Menon
Head, Liasioning Perhaps the most interesting story of our team is Norma’s. She started at the company over 40 years ago as personal assistant to our director, Mr. Sanjay Menon. Today, she is responsible for a wide variety of tasks. In logistics, she collates the national requirements for various brands and liaises with suppliers, packers and ensure shipment, and most importantly ensures compliance with FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) norms. She also has the unique role of facilitating and aiding purchase decisions for high net worth individuals and celebrities. In addition, she also supports the company’s event activities by soliciting participation to wine dinners and tastings.
Sonali Menon
Director Sonali plays a vital role in ensuring both the financial stability and holistic well-being of the organization. Beyond her remarkable business acumen, Sonali is always ready to step in and help others solve problems, particularly when it comes to health and well-being. Her empathetic nature and practical mindset make her a go-to person in times of need. As an accredited WSET trainer, she has successfully conducted multiple level 1 courses under KBR school of wine for food and beverage professionals and budding wine enthusiasts alike. She is one of India's first WSET accredited trainers.
Advait Menon
Vice President – Sales & Marketing While relatively new to the wine scene, Advait grew up in a household that played a pioneering role in fine wine importation in India. Surrounded by a rich wine culture from an early age, his adulthood was spent on wine tastings at Chateaux Latour, Chateaux Margaux and Gaja. Keep an eye on this exciting newcomer who brings remarkable negotiation skills from working in public health policy, liaising with various government offices to receive grants for endemic diseases. Now, armed with a fresh prospective and a passion, he has embarked on a personal journey to explore and unravel the lesser-known fine wine and artisanal spirits producers. His ability to blend tradition and innovation is pushing Sonarys to newer heights.
Pramila Bangera
Chief Operations Officer Pramila is the backbone of the daily operations of the Sonarys. Having started her professional career with the company over 23 years ago as an accountant, she has transformed into an expert on logistics, finance, accounting and regulatory affairs. She is responsible for timely planning of shipments and making sure there is inventory readily available for pickup, efficient payments to our vendors and very importantly, liaising with the government channels to get products registered for sale.
Vinod Shankar
General Manager, Sales Vinodh is a senior sales professional with 25 years of rich experience in the Food and Beverage industry. After successful stints with Remy Cointreau and Aspri Spirits, he has brought to Sonarys an analytical and data driven approach sales. Using his vast experience, far reaching network and deep understanding of the market Vinodh is instrumental to Sonarys and has taken its distribution network to new heights. In addition, he was part of the team that introduced & built Jagermeister in the Indian market and is working in a similar capacity at Sonarys.
Karthik Shetty
RSM – South & Goa, Marketing Head Coming with over 10+ years of experience of building brands like Jägermeister and Campari in India. Karthik is above all a true spirit enthusiast & writer. He has built beverage communities in two cities – namely Chennai Thirst Club and Hyderabad Thirst Club. These communities are today 10,000 members strong. In addition, he is a jury chair for India’s 30 best bars – a bar awards & ranking program.
