The Producer

In June 2018 a Master of Wine put together a blind tasting of the World's Best Chardonnays, including a couple of Montrachets from top producers, Premier Cru of equal repute and icon Chardonnay's from Napa, Sonoma, Australia and NZ. Among the wines that came out in the top 3 was one from Kumeu River called Mates Vineyard. This was followed by a huge retrospective tasting of several vintages of all their top wines, overwhelming the tasters, leading to Jancis Robinson declaring, "Why should I drink expensive white Burgundy!"
