Schloss Lieser, meaning “Castle Lieser,” is a historic estate in Brauneberg, Mosel. Once neglected by its aristocratic owners, who saw little value in wine, the vineyards and winery fell into ruin. It was only in the late 20th century, when the Haag family, renowned for their Fritz Haag label and top parcels in Brauneberg, were offered the estate. Patriarch Olivier Haag entrusted its revival to his son Thomas Haag, who transformed Schloss Lieser into a world-class producer. Thomas restored both the vineyards and the estate, earning Germany’s Winemaker of the Year in 2014.
