The Producer

More than seven centuries ago, Cistercian monks brought Pinot Noir to Malterdingen. In this region the monks encountered a soil consisting of marl, a mix of limestone and clay soil, weathered with mineral deposits. A type of terroir consistent with what can be found in Burgundy. The monks' estate, called "curia", was built in the Gewann Mönchhofmatten district, where the Huber winery still stands today, In fact the very site where the monks were believed to have planted the first pinot noirs, a plot of land, now named ‘Wildenstein’ is in the firm custody of this estate. has his son Julian Huber to continue his legacy. Bernhard believed in allowing all wines to ferment through and to grant them an extended period for élevage on the lees. The end result is a dry red wine which is harmonious, approachable, and elegant!
