2012 Mai Dire Mai Amarone della Valpolicella

Romano dal Forno is the most revered & sought after producer of Amarone in the Veneto region. Around fifteen years ago, an independent plot of land providing some of the key grapes for the estate's blend and capable of no more than 100 cases of production found itself up for sale. To the envy of almost everyone in the region, even while Dal Forno seemed like the obvious choice, the land owners were content with fixing a deal with the Famigilia Pasqua instead. With a plot so valuable and an event so fortuitous; the Pasquas thought it was perhaps too good to be true. Despite some scepticism, Ricardo Pasqua in his positive attitude said “Mai Dire Mai” (Never say Never) and it was that attitude that helped them win over this stunning land with a stunning wine approaching the level of quality of the previous producer at an incredibly accessible price point relative to the icon.
