producer background

Château La Bastide Rougepeyre is a small, independent estate located in the heart of the Cabardès AOC, just outside Carcassonne in southwestern France. The estate takes its name from its historic bastide, a medieval fortified farm and Rougepeyre, meaning ‘red stone;, a nod to the iron-rich soils of the region. Cabardès is one of the only French AOCs to officially permit blending of both Bordeaux (Atlantic) and Rhône (Mediterranean) varietals, offering wines with a signature balance of richness and freshness. The ‘Cuvée Classique’ is the estate’s emblematic wine, crafted with traditional methods, minimal intervention, and a deep respect for its diverse terroirs, producing a red that is both expressive and true to place.
