producer background

Based in the Dizy region of Champagne, the house makes claim to being the oldest independent Champagne house. Currently run by brothers Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet who have introduced methods of organic farming, increase of fermentation in oak, new vineyards being bought in. Jacquesson vineyards are located in the Grand Cru villages of Ay, Avize and Oiry and in the Premier Cru villages of Dizy, Hautvillers and Mareuil-sur-Ay. The Cuvée 747 is a blend of several years and is not allowed to be identified by one of the years involved; logically, it needed to be identified by a number and instead of inventing any old number, they decided to give the wine the production number that the Cuvée had in their cellar book. Cuvée no.1 had been made in 1898 by the House to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Thus it was, with Cuvée no. 728, based on the 2000 vintage, that their adventure began
