Sonarys and its founders pioneered the import, distribution and development of Fine Wine in the country, starting over 20 years ago. Over this period, Sonarys have built an enviable portfolio of top, iconic products from famed wine- growing regions of the world on their stock list. Unlike most importers, at Sonarys, we are passionate about wine and over the years, have developed a keen understanding of the subject and enjoy global credibility in the wine world. These are the wines that have passed our discerning palates before being offered to you.
Sonarys was the first to establish and inculcate the discipline of temperature control in their custom-bonded warehouse facilities and was also the first to receive a privately-owned, public-bonded license for sensitive alcoholic beverages. This business was then hived off into a dedicated service under the name & style of Veritas Logistics Pvt Ltd., which operates independently, providing custom-bonded and first-step logistic services to most of the top international beverage service companies in India. Veritas’ order book of customers includes Pernod Ricard, Moet Hennessy and others. This is the largest such facility in the country for the specialized alcobev distribution business. Bonded and non-bonded cold, chilled and frozen food has also been added tom our storage in the recent years.
From 1999 when the promoters decided to focus the company’s efforts on fine wines, they became involved in educating the hospitality industry. Recognizing the vacuum that existed in the market, and the growing demand for such product knowledge, Sonarys established the KBR School of Wine in 2007 to formalize the dissemination of wine-related knowledge. Thus KBR became the first institution in the country to be accredited by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) of the U.K., an agency that provides the most comprehensive and contemporary wine education programs in the world.
Over the years, we have been recognized by top personalities from the Indian media such as Vir Sanghvi, Bachi Karkaria, Rashmi Uday Singh, Mukund Padmanabhan and others in numerous odes to our efforts in developing the market for fine wines in the country. Our Director, Sanjay Menon, has also been recognized on numerous occasions by the top wine media from around the world, culminating in the Decanter magazine recognizing Sanjay Menon amongst the 50 most influential wine personalities in the world in their ‘Decanter Power List’ for 2009 at position number 43, embarrassingly ahead of the great Angelo Gaja and the then CEO of Diageo, Paul Walsh.
Sanjay has served as a judge on various wine-tasting panels at prestigious wine competitions around the world such as the Decanter World Wine Challenge. He has also founded, in India, the first and only branch of the International Wine & Food Society in Bombay and the Chaine des Rotisseurs in Bangalore.
